INTERNATIONAL FOOD FESTIVAL - Saturday, Jan. 9 at 6:00 p.m.

I am still relishing in the fun and food of last night's International Food Festival benefit event at New Hope that raised around $2300 to help fund the water wells and medicines for the mission trip to Haiti this week (Jan 13-19).

About 300 people attended last night and enjoyed food from far-away places such as the Philippines, India, Africa, Brazil, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Indonesia, Greneda, Jamaica, Venezuela, the good ole USA, and even high tea with Pastor Newman in his English-style teahouse.

Congrats to INDIA, last night's winners of best overall cuisine at the IFF! Their sari demonstration, bollywood videos and music and impressive display of food was rightly acknowledged as they came out in force again and took home the victory!

As I lay in bed last night unable to sleep from the adrenaline rush, my mind was full of regrets....regrets that I didn't get around to tasting each and every dish, especially the items the "Mystery Judges" gave honorable mention like Caribbean's jerk chicken, USA's Wisconsin Mac & Cheese, Africa's Ginger Juice, Venezuela's flan dessert. Everything looked fabulous and I heard many glowing reports from all the foods that were tasted from all the different countries.

My Philippine Peeps, thank you coming through for this American-Filipino who had nightmares the previous night about running out of Filipino food as I chanted a "loaves and fishes" prayer all day long (oh me of little faith). Even with fewer cooks this year, we still came through as we made it through the night with 20 lumpia to spare! I should know by now that "THAT'S how we (egg) roll :o)! Kudos to Isreal Castro/Uncle Tate for the artistic carved fruit display that also won an honorable mention for the Philippines!

Thanks to all who participated and those who came out to eat to support S.o.S. and the outreach to Haiti!
