In February, the Jacobs and Tejeda families joined us for games one Saturday night - we played "The Great Dalmuti" which the Jacobs introduced us to years ago. It is a unique game that even the kids can play, with a definite caste system which plays out by chair position and stature (see Cesar on the low stool) along with hats. It's a fun game!

Lunch with Nedds
Back in February, we had lunch with friends Dan & Cynthia Nedd in their beautiful new home in Upper Marlboro. We celebrated Dad Wooster's bday together that day as well.

Valentine's 2010
This year Valentine's Day started out with a breakfast in bed for the kids with hot chocolate and egg hearts.
We had Valentine's dinner here at the house with Dave's parents (can't seem to find those pictures), then they took the kids home to Waldorf since they were off school the next day, and we got to go out on a date and saw the movie AVATAR (The 3D the glasses are new and improved!)

Back home!

They issued a state of emergency in the Frederick area this morning as 70% of the roads are deemed “impassible” and said they were going to ticket vehicles that were unnecessarily on the road. We didn’t hear about that until after Dave left on his own this morning to see if we could make it home! It was still a little dicey, but he made it and cleared our driveway and then came back to get us. By then, the sun melted a bunch of the snow and ice on the roads and we got in with no incidents around 1:30 p.m.
We apprecirate the Jacobs' hospitality and a couple of relaxing days with great food and fun. I'm sure they're happy to have their house back (see pic for Monty kicking Dave out)! Of course, now the kids are bored and I have to figure out what to make for dinner - we're used to our meals and laundry being taken care of and our kids being occupied with their friends - it was a nice mini-vacation, but now it's back to real life!
So now they're saying another storm is coming next week....Snowmageddon 3???!!!
Snowed in at the Jacobs' - Wednesday afternoon
Dave tried a dry run Wednesday afternoon to see if he could make it home after getting all shoveled out, but the hills were too slippery and he couldn't make it much past the Jacobs' street
without getting stuck 3 times! Looks like it's another night at the Jacobs' bed & breakfast, lunch and dinner! Our kids have had sleepovers for the last 4 nights, and tonight is #2 for the parents! It's good to have good friends close by to spend these snowy days with! We'll try it again on Thursday!

Snowed in!
Came over to Monty & Gigi's to pick up our kids, who have now been together at one of our homes since the Superbowl due to the snow. By the time we finished our pizza, things were looking dicey outside and we decided to have a full-family sleepover! The kids are having a blast, the women have been nesting in the kitchen cooking and the men are working thanks to remote access! We'll venture out later today, but for now are enjoying our snowbound day!

"NACHO Ordinary" Superbowl Fiesta
In our friend Cesar's honor, because we love him and he & Dave have constant racial jokes between the white boy and the Mexican, we decided to have a Mexican-themed Superbowl FIESTA! But it was "nacho" ordinary Superbowl party...heehee
Mostly had Saints fans in the house so it was a great game (so they say), great food and great fellowship with our friends and neighbors. Ay, Caramba!
Pls pause music player at the lower left of this page so you can hear the appropriate music with the slideshow...

Saturday in the Snow
My family spent the entire day on Saturday in the snow. They headed out right after breakfast to conquer the long driveway with the shovel and plow which didn't always work because the snow was deep - about 30" total. Dave didn't step foot in the house until he came in around 7:30 p.m. that night, only stopping once to eat his soup in the garage sitting on his tool chest - he's my hard worker! The kids stayed out for all but 1-2 hours that day also. Me, well, you know how I roll...on the inside looking out at the snow, nesting, cooking, baking - that's what I like about snow days!

Nate & Yoga
On Saturday, after a full day of playing in the snow while Dave shoveled and plowed the driveway, my son decided he wanted to "celebrate the driveway" by playing the Wii for our family night. But this time, he didn't want to play his usual Star Wars, or Mario Kart...he wanted to do YOGA on Wii Fit. While making his case, he was practicing the "TREE" pose which was not working out, because his foot kept slipping off his leg. Finally, he decided to solve the problem by taking his pants off. I ignored the plea to not take his picture with his undies on, which I may pay for in the future. I love this kid.

Still walkin' in that winter wonderland!
Only about 3 inches of snow, but enough for warrant a 2 hour delay today. The kids enjoyed the morning outide shoveling snow and hoping the 2 hr delay would turn into a full snow day. No such luck, but we hear more is on the way in a few days...
