DAY ONE of Woosters' Wild West Adventure

We arrived Jackson Hole, WY around noon today, hopped in our rental car and headedto Jackson. It was still a bit early to check-in, so we decided to drive around and survey the land. We ended up at Teton Village, about 12 miles outside of Jackson where we took a tram ride up Rendezvous Peak in the Teton mountain range at about 10K. At the top, we hiked around Corbet's trail and saw Corbet's Koulier, a ski slope the starts out really, really steep and scared me just looking at it! It was a gorgeous view and we just sat and took it all in for a while, then huffed and puffed our way back up the trail (as what comes down, must go up)to take the tram back down. Dave posed for a pic down in a crevice of one of the rocks, which made his son cry and say "I'm afraid my dad might die!" After that ride, we took a chair-lift ride a few times before heading back to Jackson. After checking into our hotel, we went to the town square for the nightly cowboy shoot-out which the kids enjoyed (but Mom jumped every time the gun went off)! Dave had a buffalo steak for dinner and then took the kids to the heated pool at the hotel. The kids are bedded down now, and Dave is hiding out in the bathroom getting his gear together for an early morning fishing trip before we head north towards Yellowstone.

Happy 2nd Bday, Joe Turner!

We spent the night with the Turner family who live close to the airport. The kids were excited to meet Lacey for the first time as they were out of town when she was born, just a few days before Joe's 2nd birthday. Happy Birthday, Big Joe!

Tues, Aug 4 - Mon, Aug 10: Dave's 40th Bday Trip

We leave Tuesday for our week in the wild west for Dave's 40th bday, to see places he's always dreamed of going. We start out in Jackson Hole, WY and go north through Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone, spend a little time in Southern Montana (Livingston/Bozeman) and then drive back south through the Teton Valley in Idaho before returning to Jackson Hole again. We have a trail ride and cowboy cook-out planned for his bday, some fly-fishing and a scenic float along the Snake River on the weekend. Should be a fun trip! I managed to keep it a secret until this weekend, so that he could plan and pack a little more effectively! If we're able, I'll post some pics during the trip!

August 09

Our kids came home after a week with Gapa & Gama in Toledo, and we enjoyed a day with them, the Rooneys and Rob as well as Mom Wooster who visited while Dad W & Elizabeth are in Africa on another mission trip. We revealed Dave's bday trip surprise (the hat is courtesy of Dave's cousins Dirk & Rachel) this weekend too. Nate decided he wanted a mohawk for the trip, so we gave him a mild one that can be remedied before school starts! Went to DRCC for church and saw our cousins Dana, Brittany and Hunter.

Lacey Anna Turner is born!

I had the privilege of meeting Chad & Tonya's new baby girl on the day of her birth after taking care of Joe (who turns 2 this week) while they were at the hospital. She's beautiful and all are doing well!

July: Canada

We spent a week in Canada at a house on Lake Consecon (Ontario) with our family from Columbus and Chicago. Niagara Falls was one of our day trips with the "Maid of the Mist" boat ride and "Journey Behind the Falls". Also enjoyed blueberry and raspberry picking on the drive to and from Canada and a boat ride through Alexandria Bay at THOUSAND ISLANDS, NY as well.

Steve Faehner's Surprise (Almost) 40th Bday Weekend (Click on picture to enlarge)

Hollie did a fantastic job of pulling off a surprise birthday celebration weekend for Steve who is (almost) turning 40 (in December). It was wonderful to be with these old friends again and to see our kids enjoying each other as well. It was a memorable weekend for sure!

Sabrina learns to ski

We tried once at the end of last summer, but she got her courage up to try again this weekend at the river for Steve's 40th bday party. She popped right up this time! Notice Nate's (not so) encouraging comments?!

The Disgruntled Graduate

Nate was not a happy camper when he arrived at preschool and had to wear a graduation cap and gown for the ceremony which he absolutely refused to participate in (other than being a "line leader" while each other child performed their own individual songs). Oh well. The middle picture is how I'll remember that day!

Nate's 5th Bday

Nate had a fishing birthday party with his friends/family on the weekend, followed by breakfast in bed, Chuck E. Cheese, and Chick-Fil-A on his actual bday, along with cupcakes at school, and a steak dinner at home at his request the day after.
